AZURITE, MALACHITE

Outstanding specimen of electric blue azurite associated to microcrystallized malachite from a classic contemporaneous locality. This blue special color is due to a first growth of azurite which was pseudomorphously replaced by malachite and then covered by a later layer of azurite. The light reflects off the malachite underlayer and back through the outer azurite layer to create the distinctive color. THE MAIN CRYSTAL IS: 2.2 x 1.2 x 1 cm.
