SILVER, ACANTITE, CALCITE

The specimens from the Balcoll mine in Falset, in the heart of the Catalan region of el Priorat, are well known and prized by collectors. This mine was exploited in the early 20th century, and most of these specimens date back to that period of mining operations and were collected from the mine's waste dumps in last years of the same century. In this specimen, weighing over 260 grams, we can see numerous arborescent and dendritic growths of native silver, along with acanthite, in darker tones. An exceptional piece, one of those no longer found on the market.
