CALCITE

A very rich group of calcite crystals with hexagonal prismatic forms, most of which have flat faces on the top, while others show rhombohedral faces. If we observe these terminal faces under magnification, we can see triangular shapes, most likely from very flattened rhombohedra. Some crystals are completely transparent, while others are translucent—a truly curious phenomenon for which I cannot find an explanation. A very interesting piece for lovers of crystallography.
